Join us this Saturday, January 28 for our community weight loss challenge Lighten Up SGV! hosted at our Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina. Lighten Up SGV! is a comprehensive support program for those who want to lose weight and get healthy. It includes a weight loss contest. web site, weight loss support classes and other events and resources for both adults and children.

We hope you let us help you on your journey, but here are few basic tips to get you started on the road to a healthier you.

1.) Start small with your goals – Overly ambitious steps will set you up for disappointment. Establish smaller goals and build upon them. This will give you the right attitude for long term success.

2.) Picture your goal – Words and images can help tremendously in motivating individuals to push forwards in challenging situations like losing weight. Use before and after photos or motivational notes throughout your weeks to remind yourself of why you’re sticking with it.

3.) Go easy on yourself – While discipline and hard work are key in losing weight, don’t beat yourself up if you miss a work out or can’t go as long as you had hoped in a session. Work into your journey, stay consistent and keep your eye on your goals.

4.) Buddy up – Find a partner who has similar goals as you and plan a workout schedule with them. Hold each other accountable and it will be more difficult to back out of a workout.
